COVID 19 Update

Dear Carnegie Patients

As we navigate the global crisis of COVID – 19 our top priority is the safety of our patients and our dental team.

National Guidelines for Dental Practices have now dictated that we should not physically see patients and should instead provide advice over the phone along with prescriptions for pain relief or antibiotics where absolutely necessary. All routine dental appointments have now been cancelled and we are not allowed to perform any dental treatments, even in an emergency situation, that might produce an aerosol.

There are processes in place to establish emergency clinics in strategic areas to treat patients who may need aerosol generating dental treatments (ie treatments that need the dentist to use a drill) but as yet these clinics are not up and running. As we find out more we will certainly keep you informed either on facebook or on our website. Please follow us on for regular updates.

At Carnegie Dental Clinic our phone lines will be manned by our usual dental team every day from Monday to Saturday. They will be able to listen to your concerns and give advice where appropriate. Our dentists are also taking turns to be available for triaging your calls and will be able to give advice to patients for the more complex dental problems.

The practice door will be kept locked at all times and if a patient is advised to attend the clinic for an appointment they will be given a specific time slot, at which time the door will be opened.

Please be aware that there are strict criteria in place regarding what types of dental emergency constitute a genuine need for a patient to attend the practice in person. In current times please understand that a face to face toothache appointment with a dentist is not to be expected due to the reduced social distancing that this involves and the risk of transmitting Coronavirus between individuals.

Our relationship with our patients, has always been at the very heart of what we do and we would like to thank you for all the kind words and messages of support that we have received over recent weeks. It’s kindness and supporting one another that will be key to getting through the forthcoming months.

Please stay safe, maintain social distancing at all times and take care
Kindest Regards
Alex & the team
